Ulun Danu Temple, also known as Ulun Danu Penataran Agung Temple, stands as one of the nine sacred Khayangan Jagat temples that encircle the enchanting island of Bali. As per the records from the Ulun Danu Beratan site, this remarkable temple was commissioned by none other than I Gusti Agung Putu, who served as the inaugural monarch of Puri Mengwi during the Saka Year 1556, which corresponds to the year 1634 AD.
This sacred site comprises five distinct compounds, each with its unique character: Penataran Agung, Prajapati, Dalem Purwa, Beji Park, Lingga Petak, and even a Buddhist stupa. To this day, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple remains a place of devout worship for the Hindu community on the island.
